Description from the seller
Nariño-Capulí Anthropomorphic Terracotta Vessel, Nariño-Capulí Culture, 6th to 9th Century AD
Rare anthropomorphic terracotta vessel masterfully modeled in the form of a human face, featuring almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, open mouth, and a carefully rendered headdress decorated with incised geometric motifs. The vessel displays an attractive dark brown surface with age-related wear, burial patina, and minor encrustations that emphasize its archaeological authenticity. Anthropomorphic vessels of this type were produced for ceremonial and funerary contexts, reflecting the complex symbolic world and sophisticated ceramic craftsmanship of the highland cultures of southern Colombia.
