Description
A finely decorated Japanese Satsuma-style porcelain koro / incense burner, raised on three small feet and with gilt ring handles to the sides.
The body is richly enamelled with fan-shaped panels depicting figures, flowers, wisteria and landscape scenes, surrounded by dense floral scroll decoration. The piece is further highlighted with gilt details throughout. The base bears a red and gilt Japanese mark.
Probably Japanese, Meiji period, late 19th to early 20th century.
Condition
Excellent overall condition. No obvious chips, cracks or restoration visible. Some light age-related wear to the gilding and minor surface wear, consistent with age and use. Please note: the cover is missing.
