タイノ族の大理石像 – 紀元前10世紀から紀元後15世紀
卓越したタイノ族の非常に古い像で、大理石と思われる素材に高度にスタイライズされた人間形で彫られ、深くくり抜かれた円形の瞳、顕著な口元、拡大した耳飾り、そして象徴的なタイノ宗教美術の規範に沿ったコンパクトな体躯が特徴です。こうした像は祖先霊や霊的存在、または強力なゼミスを聖なる representationsとして崇拝する役割を果たし、カリブ海全域のタイノ儀礼・儀式生活の中心的存在でした。彫刻家は自然主義的な比率よりも超自然的な特徴を強調し、精神的信念を反映した強力な視覚的存在感を生み出しています。作品は滑らかな表面が魅力的で、彫刻の細部が繊細で、考古学的な外観がよく保存されており、タイノ石工技術と宗教的象徴性の顕著な例として際立っています。
