Magnificent rare Art Deco figurine of a “Harem Dancer”, creation of the Limbach Porzellan Manufaktur (1772-1939), in excellent condition. It depicts a sensuous lady dancer,performing an oriental dance, dressed in magnificent salwar pants with multicolored flowers, bowed shawl around the hips, long veiled cap, bracelet embellishment and high heels gilded shoes. The entire figure emanate sensuality with details made to perfection, multicolor hand painted. Limbach figurine are among the most hard to collect as the factory operate only a short limited period of time in producing them. Limbach Porzellanfabrik was founded in 1772 by Gotthelf Greiner (mainly known for discovering German porcelain recipe) and as late as 1937 was advertising bathing beauty figurines. According to the Lorrins, in 1922, Hertwig & Co. took a controlling interest in Limbach, which was suffering from financial difficulties. Similarities in the style of Hertwig’s hairstyle graciously mixed with Limbach bathing beauties in a very limited number of figurines. It is in excellent condition, marked with crowned green “three leaves clover” mark of the period on the back of the base, impressed numbered #Sp3011, hardy noticeable tinny tip of one finger missing, otherwise NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
