Hajime Sorayama - The Gynoids(First Edition, Hardcover) - 1993

Hajime Sorayama's art collection, *The Gynoids (First Edition, Hardcover)*, is by one of Japan's leading illustrators. Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1947, Sorayama graduated from the design department of Chuo Art Academy. After working for the advertising agency Asahi Tsushinsha (now Asatsu-DK), he became a freelancer in 1972. His "sexy robots," which fused metallic robots with female eroticism, became a sensation, and in 1983, he published his first book, *Sexy Robot* (Genkosha), which brought him widespread recognition. Since the 1990s, he has attracted increasing attention from overseas, particularly in the United States. He was responsible for the concept design of Sony's "AIBO" series of pet robots, released in 1999, which is now included in the MoMA's permanent collection. Sorayama's work continues to be active, with commercials and brand collaborations, but this book is a collection of his works themed around beautiful cyborgs. It's full of fetishistic elements, such as slender waists, long legs, stiletto heels, and protruding breasts. A collection of images that are both sensual and violent. First edition, hardcover.
