Kikuji Kawada - 20 (Signed) Kikuji Kawada - 2021
"20 (Signed)" is a photobook by Kikuji Kawada, one of the leading photographers of postwar Japan.
Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1933, after graduating from Rikkyo High School and University, he worked for Shinchosha Publishing, handling gravure photography, but left after a few years to become a freelancer.
He participated in "10 Eyes," a project led by critic and commentator Tatsuo Fukushima that pursued new photographic expressions beyond realism, and also in "VIVO." In 1965, he published "The Map," a masterpiece that left its mark on the history of postwar Japanese photography.
Since then, based on grand themes such as "the world" and "the universe," he has continued to pursue something invisible, and has been a master photographer who has continued to create energetically since 2000. This book contains 30 carefully selected images from the images that Kawada himself has been updating on Instagram since 2019. A limited edition of 700 copies. Edition numbered. Signed by the photographer.
