A fine late 18th-early 19th century Nast porcelain partial tea service consisting of teapot, four tea cups and seven saucers, the teapot measuring circa 16cm in height, the cups 6,5cm and the saucers 12,6cm in diameter, all pieces together weighing 2135g. Each piece finely painted in polychrome enamels to depict a different exotic bird on a leafy branch, most pieces marked Nast à Paris, the manufactory founded in 1785 by Jean Népomucène Ernest Nast (1754-1817), who worked at the Royal porcelain workshop at Versailles before starting his own factory that quickly rose to international prominence, rivalling the Sèvres production by the beginning of the 19th century and supplying many royal courts, including that of the French Directory (1795-) and subsequently Napoléon Bonaparte. Condition: Carefully inspected with these findings: Teapot with restoration to the rim and minor chip to the spout. 1 cup with tiny crack at the base of the handle 1 cup with hairline 40mm 1 saucer with hairline 37mm 1 saucer with hairline 26mm 1 saucer with hairline 20mm 1 saucer with minor glaze crazing to the interior This lot will be handled and packaged with the utmost care and sent by registered and insured mail.
