中世ヨーロッパの印紋指輪 – 中世ヨーロッパ – 西暦12世紀から15世紀
銅製の印紋指輪で、特徴的な多角形の bezel（署名面）を彫刻し、交差するパネルと枠付きの区画から成る幾何学的な直線モチーフを刻んだデザインが特徴です。こうした抽象的な意匠は中世のヨーロッパの私用指輪にも一般的で、装飾的かつ象徴的な役割を果たしていました。控えめな装飾と角ばった bezel 形状は、中世の金属工芸の伝統に典型的で、幾何学的モチーフが figurative imagery（具体象徴）に代わることがよくありました。
リングは銅製で、長期の埋葬と使用による経年の痕跡と共に、よく保存された黒い patina を示します。幾何学的構成ははっきりと見て取れ、作品に力強い建築的な趣を与えています。簡素さと機能性、そして独特の職人技が調和した、中世の私用装身具の魅力的な例です。
