2017 Chateau La Violette - Pomerol - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The Wine Advocate Score: 94-96+ Medium to deep garnet purple in color, the 2017 La Violette is initially somewhat reserved but unfolds to reveal notes of crushed blackberries and blackcurrants, with hints of forest floor, truffles, cast iron pan, and star anise. The taste is exquisitely balanced and intense, with firm, ripe tannins and seamless freshness surrounding the rock-solid, muscular fruit, and finishes very long. Jeb Dunnuck Score: 93-96 The 2017 La Violette is another silky, elegant wine with a Burgundian flair. Black cherries, blueberries, violets, white flowers, and spicy characteristics all come to the fore in this seamless 2017, which is as stylish, soft, and pure as they can be. Absolute class and top of the vintage. Château La Violette is a rare pearl in Pomerol, with only 1.8 hectares of vineyards, located on the plateau between Clos l'Église and Trotanoy. The vineyards of La Violette are located on the Pomerol Plateau, a plateau with an excellent terroir for the production of quality wines. The soil of the plateau consists of a combination of clay, limestone, and gravel. The oldest vines are 60 years old or older. The vineyards are currently planted with 100% Merlot. Previously, Cabernet Franc vines were also planted. Yields per hectare are very low, sometimes reaching as low as 18 hectoliters per hectare. This ensures high-quality grapes. The bunches are harvested by hand. After the harvest is complete, the grapes undergo cold maceration averaging 20 days. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels. Fermentation is followed by barrel aging for an average of 24 months. The result is a layered wine with soft tannins, abundant fruit, and a long finish. A characteristic feature of this wine is the violet aroma. For that reason, the winery bears the name Violette. Château La Violette has built up a good reputation over the past few years, and the quality increases year by year. La Violette belongs to the top of Pomerol! The best vintages are 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2018. Average number of cases produced ca; 250 per year / 2700 bottels Buy it direct at the release. Wine is storage in a wine climate cabinet. Shipping by registed and insured mail Please check before bidding if it's aloud to import wine in your country.
