Clos René is a Pomerol wine estate located in the western portion of the appelletion, in the Bordeaux region's so-called "right bank", northeast of the Dordogne river. Clos René is owned and operated by the Garde-Lasserre family, which also controls Château Moulinet-Lasserre in Pomerol and Château La Mission in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation to the north.
The Clos René estate covers 12 hectares (29 acres) and is planted to roughly 70 percent Merlot, 20 pecent Cabernet Franc and 10 percent Malbec – proportions that are generally found in the final wine. The estate also produces the second label Château du Couvent.
