Trilobite - 動物化石 - Cyphaspis Trilobite - 7 cm - 7 cm

Very attractive specimen of Cyphaspis, likely dating to the Devonian period of Morocco, a region world-renowned for producing finely prepared and highly aesthetic trilobites. This distinctive genus is recognized for its compact body form and its strongly developed glabella. The specimen displays a large, bulbous and prominently granulose glabella, giving the cephalon a textured and powerful appearance. The surface ornamentation is clearly visible and adds depth and character to the fossil. Particularly striking are the long, free-standing spines. Two pronounced genal spines extend elegantly from the sides of the cephalon, while a long axial spine projects from the posterior, creating a dramatic three-dimensional effect. The spines are individually freed from the surrounding matrix, enhancing both the visual impact and the collectible value of the piece. Trilobites were early marine arthropods with a hard, mineralized exoskeleton and a body divided into three main regions: cephalon, thorax, and pygidium. Species of Cyphaspis are especially appreciated by collectors for their compact proportions combined with elaborate defensive spination. The preparation of a specimen of this quality requires great skill and patience. The delicate spines have been meticulously exposed from the rock matrix, reflecting careful and professional work. The result is an elegant and eye-catching fossil, ideal for a refined trilobite collection or as a striking natural history display piece.
