Write-up from MB 114: Northwest Africa 18102 (NWA 18102) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2025 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Many stones were purchased online in 2025 by Mark Lyon, John Humphries, and Topher Spinnato from a meteorite dealer in Northwest Africa. Physical Characteristics: Many stones with slightly weathered dark-brown fusion crusts. Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Equilibrated ordinary chondrite comprised of a few chondrules set within a matrix containing secondary recrystallized feldspar (av. ~15 µm), and accessory Fe-Ni metal, troilite, and chromite. Geochemistry: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Olivine (Fa25.6±0.3, range Fa24.9–26.1, n = 19); low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.7±0.4Wo1.4±0.3, range Fs21.1–22.6Wo1.0–1.8, n = 19). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 20.5 g type specimen at Cascadia; main mass with Mark Lyon, John Humphries, and Topher Spinnato. I am a member of the Meteoritical Society (#7743) and have been collecting meteorites for more than 15 years.
