Edition No. 5 is a highly collectible, limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky released in September 2019. It is the fifth release in Macallan's famous six-part "Edition Series," which explored the specific impact of different cask selections on flavor and character.

Exclusively matured in 100% American oak casks (a mix of first-fill bourbon barrels and sherry-seasoned American oak casks).

The Color Concept: Macallan collaborated with the Pantone Color Institute to create a unique shade of purple for the box and label, celebrating the mastery of whisky's 100% natural color.

Tasting Profile

Color: Sunlight barley.

Nose: Sweet aromas of vanilla, toffee, oak, and fresh ginger, balanced by orchard fruits like lemon and pear.

Palate: Sweet and spicy with notes of caramel, poached pear, nutmeg, and fresh ginger.

Finish: Medium-long, sweet, and warming with a lingering oak finish.

Intended to showcase the color of Macallan, the fifth annual Edition release has been aged in a variety of American oak casks. The nose is initially reticent and offers dried fruits, salted caramel, sawdust, and ginger. Extremely smooth on the palate, with more dried fruits, ripe plums, milk chocolate, new leather, and black pepper. The finish is medium in length, with leather and dark chocolate
