About George Goulet
----------------------
The history of the historic Champagne house George Goulet dates back to its founding in 1834 in Reims, France. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, it was a highly prestigious brand. The house held official royal warrants to supply its sparkling wine to various royal figures, including the King of Spain, the Prince of Wales, and the Dutch court.
Over its existence, the lineage, brand ownership, and physical buildings underwent several major shifts. The firm was established by George Goulet in 1834. By 1870, they built impressive facilities directly over Gallo-Roman chalk cellars (crayères) in Reims.
During World War I, the original facilities were destroyed. The house was rebuilt around 1920 under the name Veuve Georges Goulet. In the late 20th century, the house was managed by other historic names like Abel Lepitre and later Champagne Henriot (until 1984).
In 1994, the physical buildings and cellars were purchased by Veuve Clicquot, who now use them primarily for corporate hospitality. The commercial brand rights were independently relaunched by Jean-Jacques Vernet (formerly of de Venoge).
Style and Classic Vintages: George Goulet champagnes are celebrated for being fragrant, rich, firm, and full of personality. The winemakers traditionally utilized classic blends of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
Shipping is from/to EU MAINLAND ONLY (no islands) in certified protective cardbox.
