Initial finds were made by a local nomad, followed by a 14-day organized search expedition led by CRATER Meteorites and Expometeoritos, during which numerous fragments of varying sizes were recovered from both the surface and shallow subsurface.
This specimen was acquired in 2025 from a trusted Algerian meteorite dealer.
Bechar 007 is an officially named and classified lunar meteorite, published in the Meteoritical Bulletin, ensuring full scientific recognition and authenticity.
Only 368 meteorites worldwide are officially classified as Lunar Feldspathic Breccia, making this specimen particularly rare and desirable.
