Two Chinese Canton Famille Rose Teapots, Jiaqing Period (1796–1820) These two Chinese Canton famille rose porcelain teapots date to the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1796–1820). Each teapot is individually decorated in the vibrant Canton enamel palette, reflecting the rich decorative tradition of Guangzhou export porcelain during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The larger teapot is decorated with figural panels on both sides, depicting elegant interior scenes with scholars and attendants. The cover is present and decorated en suite with the body. Floral and geometric borders frame the scenes, while the shoulder is enriched with colourful scrolling decoration. The smaller teapot is decorated with birds, butterflies and flowering peonies, a popular decorative theme symbolising beauty, prosperity and happiness in Chinese art. The painting is lively and colourful, displaying the characteristic charm of Canton enamel decoration. The original cover is no longer present.
