メソポタミアの碑文プレートは紀元前2000–1800年頃のものです。粘土を型で成形して作られており、同じ図案を複数回再現することができました。これは、風雨と嵐の神アダドを描いたもので、常に牛の背に立ち、二者ともイムドゥグドの背の上に立っている様子を示しています。シュメール期とアッシリア期には、イムドゥグドは王権と天上の力の象徴とみなされていました。メソポタミアでは、乾季には風と雷の神へより多く祈る習慣がありました。いくつかの古い図像では、イムドゥグドが二頭のライオンの上に描かれている、または嵐の力の象徴とともに描かれている場合があり、それは自然の野性的な力と天空の神聖な力を表していました。
来歴（プロベナンス）: この粘土プレートは、1986年に別の米国コレクターから購入した米国コレクターの手元にあったもので、1983年に贈与されたものです。売主は、同物件が法的に取得されたことを証明できます。
