ローマ時代の青銅製頭部ゴルゴネイオン、メデューサの頭部の浮彫飾具、紀元後1世紀～3世紀。
高浮彫で細密に作られ、睨みつけるような大きな瞳、広い鼻、開いた口、突き出た頬を持つ恐ろしいメデューサの顔が描かれています。髪は頭を取り囲むうねる蛇として表現されています。
裏面は凹状で、取り付け跡が残っており、容器、家具、扉、盾、軍用装備の装飾的取り付け具として用いられていたことを示します。
表面には暗褐色から黒色の錆び色が見られ、緑のアクセントが魅力的に映えています。
