この砂岩の Bodhisattva の頭部は、北インドにおけるグプタ期彫刻の最高峰を示すもので、紀元前1世紀から紀元後7世紀頃のデータに遡ることができます。顔立ちは穏やかで瞑想的な表情、弓形の口元、鷲鼻の下にふっくらとした唇、浮彫で描かれたアーチ状の眉、重瞼の目といった、グプタ美術の古典的特徴が顕著で、アジア各地の仏教美術に深く影響を与えました。耳飾りを身につけており、 festoon（花冠の連）と真珠の紐で装飾された豪華にまとめられた高いターバンは、この時代の宮廷仏教美術に特徴的な、表現の洗練さを反映しています。
高さ: 28 cm（木製のカスタムスタンドを含む高さは 39 cm）
梱包時の総重量は10 kg未満。
状態: 大変良好で、修復・補修はなく、軽微な aging チップと土壌のくすみがあります。詳細は画像をご参照ください。
由来: 本品は2003年にオランダ・ハーグで private コレクター（ピーター氏）から取得され、その後1982年から元のオーナーの私的オランダコレクションの一部でありました。現在は売主の私的財産です。
