The basket features a dramatic dual-lacquer finish in deep black (kuro-urushi) over an undercoat of vivid vermilion (shu), so that brilliant red lines blaze through every gap between the meticulously woven bamboo strips, creating an effect of extraordinary visual depth and energy. The body is fashioned in a rounded, globe-like form, its lower half densely woven in a precise herringbone (aya-ami) pattern that grounds the piece with geometric solidity.
