北魏の彩色法廷婦人 – 4世紀後半〜6世紀
4世紀後半から6世紀にかけての、陶土で精巧に成形された北魏時代の宮廷婦人像。胸の前で手を丁寧に組み、優雅で厳かな姿勢で立つ姿が描かれています。長く優美な衣装をまとい、袖は自然に床まで流れ落ちる北魏宮廷の特徴がうかがえます。穏やかな表情と carefully arranged な髪型は、仏教の影響が北中国全域に広がるにつれて生まれた洗練された美術理念を反映しています。元の彩色の再現度は卓越しており、顔と衣の白色の彩膜が広く残存し、外衣には濃い赤橙色の顔料が配されており、当時この像が本来持っていた華やかな姿を窺わせます。頭部は専門的に体へ再接合されていますが、像自体は早期中国の冥胡美術として非常に魅力的で良好に保存されている例です。
