その穏やかな色は“天使の石”と呼ばれる所以です。伝説によれば、天使たちの純粋で幻惑的な歌声から生まれたとされます。また、すばる座として知られるプレイアデス座とも結び付けられ、人類の精神的な揺籃と見なされています。
