A LONGQUAN CELADON 'SANSKRIT' BOWL The bowl is potted with a flared rim, curved sides and a low foot ring, measuring approximately 10.5 cm in diameter. It is entirely covered with an even greenish-celadon glaze of strong vitreous lustre, suffused with fine crackle patterns. The foot ring is left unglazed, revealing the grayish-white body. The interior is decorated in three registers: a central dharmacakra (Dharma wheel) medallion, encircled by a band of Sanskrit characters, and a wave pattern at the rim. Several hairline cracks to the rim (as shown in the illustration).
