ティーキャディ/ボックス - 漆(うるし)

Item Description This is a Japanese traditional tea utensil known as a *natsume* (棗), a lidded container used to hold powdered matcha. Both the rounded body and lid are finished in lustrous black lacquer, decorated with gold and reddish-gold maki-e depicting floral branch motifs reminiscent of autumn grasses such as hagi (bush clover). The design wraps continuously around the entire body and continues up onto the lid, creating a unified composition when the lid is closed. The inside of the lid features a pale-coloured round inlay (fitted insert) commonly found on natsume of this type. The base and interior are finished in plain black lacquer, providing a contrast to the decorative exterior. Its compact size makes it suitable both as a functional tea utensil and as a decorative piece. Dimensions Height: 6.5 cm Width: 6.5 cm Depth: 6.5 cm Weight 79 g Condition The lacquer surface shows minor overall wear consistent with age and use, including light scratches on the body and a small chip on the lower rim visible in the close-up photographs. The gold maki-e decoration remains vivid with no notable loss. Assessment is based on visual inspection. Additional Information Materials: Body finished in black urushi lacquer with gold and reddish-gold maki-e decoration. A pale-coloured inlay material is used on the inside of the lid. Type: Natsume (棗) — a lidded container used to hold matcha in the Japanese tea ceremony. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone.
