- Nefer translates to "good," "beautiful," "perfect," or "happy." The symbols on the sides of the central axis are symmetrical decorations that are often depicted together with the Nefer symbol to reinforce its power.
The indentations and shapes on the left and right sides of the central 'stem' (the windpipe) are intended to balance the composition. In Egyptian art, symmetry was essential; it stood for Ma'at (order and harmony).
Plant motifs: Such as lotus flowers or papyrus stalks, which symbolize rebirth and blossoming. Additional hieroglyphs: Sometimes small signs were added suggesting "life" (Ankh) or "strength" (Was), but here they seem to be primarily a graphic filling of the space to frame the central Nefer sign.
