Description from the seller
Ropp – 標準モデル ブライアー・パイプ – フランス、20世紀中期/後期
A vintage smoking pipe by the historic French manufacturer Ropp, founded in 1869 by Eugène-Léon Ropp. Originally renowned for cherrywood pipes, the company later expanded into briar production, operating from its factory in Baume-les-Dames until its closure in 1991, after which the brand was absorbed into the Chapuis-Comoy factory (makers of Chacom) in Saint-Claude, where Ropp pipes are still produced today.
Brand: Ropp
Model/Line: Standard (entry-level grade, as marked on the shank)
Origin: France
Period: Mid–late 20th century (pre-1991 factory production)
Materials: Briar wood bowl and shank; black vulcanite taper stem
Dimensions: 14.5 x 3 x 3.5 cm
Weight: 29 g
Markings: Oval "ROPP" logo stamped on the shank, with "STANDARD" beneath it
Condition: Good estate/vintage condition. Briar shows attractive natural grain with an even finish; stem is straight with no visible damage or heavy oxidation. A faint vulcanite odor from the stem is normal for a pipe of this age and material.
Provenance: From a private collection/estate.
