Emmy Hennings - Die letzte Freude - 1913-1913

Die letzte Freude – Emmy Hennings Leipzig: Kurt Wolff Verlag, 1913. 15 pages. 21cm x 12.8cm. Custom hardcover with raspberry-coloured boards, maroon coloured tape binding, and a title label on the front cover. Rare first edition of this deeply personal, haunting collection of Expressionist poems that explores the dark underbelly of early 20th-century bohemian life. Written while Emmy Hennings was working as a cabaret singer, artist's model, and occasionally a prostitute in Munich and Berlin, the book captures the psychological toll of poverty, social isolation, and urban alienation. Rubbing, bumping, and wear to the boards. There are a scratch and some soiling to the top-left of the front cover. Pencil markings on the front pastedown endpaper and on the verso of the back free endpaper. Only little browning and spotting throughout. The text is clear, the paper is crisp, and the binding is a bit soft. Overall, a nice copy in very good- condition.
