These authentic Japanese glass fishing floats were originally used as traditional fishing gear (buoys for fishing nets) in Japan. They were widely produced from around 1910 (Meiji 43) until they were replaced by plastic buoys with the advent of plastic materials. Today, except for certain types of fishing like octopus fishing, they are rarely produced.

The glass floats we offer were genuinely used in the fishing industry. As a result, some of the original nets may still remain. You can use the nets as they are for hanging, or simply cut them off with scissors if you prefer. In addition, you may notice traces of sand, scratches, or slight cracks, all of which add to the unique character of each glass float.

Perfect for those who appreciate retro and antique vibes, these vintage glass floats make excellent decorative pieces or thoughtful gifts!
