これは素朴な美学を特徴とする鳥形の陶器の置物の一対であり、形はアヒルやガチョウ、あるいは他の鳥を思わせます。広い胴を持つ低焼成の素焼き土器で作られており、埋葬の痕跡を示す灰白色の付着物や自然な摩耗、さらには露出したオレンジがかった赤土の斑が見られ、全体として古さと時間の流れを想起させます。現実的なディテールを追求するのではなく、簡潔な線で鳥の形を捉えるデザインで、丸い腹、短い脚、反り返った尾、長いくちばしといった特徴を際立たせる。素朴で初期の陶芸彫刻に特有の作風である。
形式と技法の点から、これらの鳥の置物は漢代から魏・晋時代にかけて一般的だった葬送用器と似ており、古代の人々が家禽や日常生活の情景、吉祥的な象徴性をどれほど重んじていたかを反映している。
