Seiko Alpinist reference 4S15-6000, a 1990s automatic watch with a stainless steel case, 35 mm diameter, powered by the 4S15 movement and a black dial.
Description from the seller
Introduction
The Seiko Alpinist is one of the most iconic tool watches in Seiko's long lineage, designed originally for Japanese mountaineers in the 1950s. This particular reference, powered by the 4S15 caliber, represents one of the most sought-after eras of the Alpinist line, combining a rugged sports design with the refinement of a high-grade mechanical movement.
Historical & Collector Value
Seiko first introduced the Alpinist concept in 1959, aimed at Japanese climbers who required a robust and reliable timepiece. The reference SCVF005, produced in the late 1990s, is considered by collectors as the modern rebirth of the Alpinist heritage. It is powered by the highly regarded 4S15 movement, a hand-assembled caliber inherited from the Grand Seiko and King Seiko lineage, known for its high beat rate, hacking seconds, and manual winding capability. Its production was limited and short-lived, making it increasingly rare on the market today. The compass-style bezel indication on the dial, red Alpinist signature, and cathedral hands make this model instantly recognizable and highly desirable among Seiko enthusiasts.
