Takahashi Dohachi 高橋道八 (Kyo-yaki Lineage) - 茶碗 (5) - 磁器/石器(混合) - 箱付き5個セットのお猪口

A charming set of five sake cups (sakazuki) by Takahashi Dohachi, one of the most celebrated names in the history of Kyoto ceramics. Each cup carries its own character — assembled here as a small connoisseur's collection of styles, glazes, and decorative techniques that together pay homage to the breadth of the Dohachi tradition: a lineage long renowned for mastering and reinterpreting the entire history of Japanese and East Asian ceramics within a single workshop. The set is presented in its original wooden tomobako, inscribed and sealed by the artist. A delightful gathering for the sake table, and a quiet but meaningful piece for any collector of Kyo-yaki. Size: H 3.1 × W 7 × D 7 cm ※For sets, the dimensions of the largest piece are listed. 【Artist Profile】 Takahashi Dohachi is one of the great hereditary names of Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware) and Kiyomizu-yaki, with a lineage of master potters spanning nine generations from the mid-eighteenth century to the present day. The line was founded in 1740 by the First Dohachi, who established a kiln in the Awataguchi district of Kyoto and became known for his refined sencha tea wares. The Second Dohachi (1783–1855), better known as Ninnami Dohachi, was honoured by the Imperial Ninna-ji and Sanbo-in temples with the characters "Nin" and "Ami" in his name, and is regarded — alongside Aoki Mokubei and Eiraku Hozen — as one of the three great masters of late Edo Kyoto ceramics. He was particularly admired for his masterful reinterpretations of Chinese, Annamese and Korean classics, as well as Raku, Ninsei, and Kenzan styles, and his work established the so-called "Dohachi style" that has shaped the line ever since. Successive generations — the Third "Kachu-tei" Dohachi (1811–1879) who was invited by the Saga domain to teach Imari porcelain techniques, through to the Eighth Dohachi (1938–2011) and the current Ninth Dohachi (b.1973) — have continued the family's dedication to tea wares and sencha utensils, maintaining one of the most distinguished workshops in Kyoto. 【Condition】 Excellent. Minor signs of age commensurate with careful storage. 【Shipping】 Carefully packed and shipped internationally with full tracking for safe delivery. ※Important Information – Please Read Before Bidding※ Customs duties, VAT, and import clearance fees are not included in the shipping cost and are the responsibility of the buyer.
