競売に出品された卓越した翼竜の化石のくちばしは、モロッコのサハラ砂漠にあるイフェズワネの赤色層（Intercalare Rosso）に由来するもので、北アフリカの白亜紀の大型脊椎動物の生物層の中でも最もよく知られた地層のひとつです。
これは博物館級の作品で、サイズも重要で、入手は極めて稀です。翼竜の頭部骨格、特に良好に保存されたくちばしの一部は、これらの飛翔動物に特有の薄く気腔化した骨構造のため、完全な形で見つけるのは極めて難しいのです。そのため、この品質の標本はコレクション市場において実に稀品です。
