ラピスラズリで彫られた古代エジプトの護符で、ウェジャット（ホルスの目）を描いたもの。古代エジプト宗教の中で最も重要な保護の象徴の一つです。目は浮彫の浮き彫りで、刻まれた細部とエジプトの護符美術に characteristic 的な伝統的スタイルを備えています。
上部に吊り孔があることから、ペンダントや護符として身につける意図だったことが伺えます。石は時間を経て得られた自然な含有物と表面の堆積物を持つ、魅力的な青色を示しています。
ウェジャットのシンボルは、保護・癒し・再生・神聖な守護を表しており、エジプト史の中で最も広く用いられた護符の一つです。
その象徴性、素材、做作を踏まえると、本品は第3中期から後期にかけて、紀元前約紀元前1070年〜525年頃の第21〜26王朝に帰属する可能性が高いと考えられます。
