— この曲がり剣は、Yakoma、Ngbandi、Sango、Gbanziri、Mbugbuの族の実用刃の形状に触発され、豪華な名誉の象徴として用いられてきました。
重いナイフは戦争や他の実用目的に使われる一方で、このような比較的軽い刃は女性の通過儀礼の儀式に用いられ、年配者の名誉の象徴となっていました。 Ngbandiの間では、この名誉刃は ngondi として知られていました（Elsen, De fer et de fierté, 2003）。
