Well-used ancestoral figure, used on family altars within the Ashanti community of Ghana. Intensely used figure with a thick sacrificial crust. Each time the ancestors were consulted a special liquid is poured over this figure to make this consultation with the ancestors more strong. The thick crust is a testimony to its intense use on an altar as are the weathered feet that are gone.
Collected in the Kumasi-region in the late 1990,s and from a private Dutch collection. Height.; 37 cm.
