再び糸を通して作られた西アジア産ラピスラズリのネックレスは、大きく平らな円形ビーズが小さな筒状ビーズの束と交互に配置されています。ネックレスの中心には平たい涙形のビーズが据えられています。深い青色の半貴石は白と gold brown の対照的な縞模様を示し、多色の趣を生み出しています。なお、このネックレスは留具がなく、糸に通してあります。円筒状のラピスラズリビーズにはいくつか欠けがあります。
ラピスラズリは古代メソポタミア、近東で長く高く評価されてきました。古代の支配者やエリート層は、この石を高く尊ぶ気持ちを示すため、部分的または全体をこの半貴石から作られた装飾品とともに身につけて埋葬しました。この美しく生き生きとした石への崇拝が生まれる以前にも、その人気と採掘は新石器時代にさかのぼり、 Near Eastで最初に発掘され、南アジアの地中海地域へ輸出され始めました。
寸法：折りたたんだときの半周長さ 35.5 cm；ビーズを含む半周長さ 21 cm
