ローマ期の青銅像のアテナの胸像は、知恵と戦いの女神として、古代ギリシャ神話の中で卓越した職人技を示しているでしょう。胸像はおそらくアテナの象徴的な特徴、コリント式ヘルメット、防具（アゲス）、おそらく知恵を象徴するフクロウなどを表現しているでしょう。青銅の使用は細部の再現性を高め、女神の穏やかで高貴な表情を捉えます。これらの胸像は私的・公的な展示のために制作されることが多く、アテナの崇高な地位を讃えるものでした。発掘された例は、この時期にギリシャ神話と美術がローマ文化へと同化していく過程に対する理解を深める手掛かりとなっています。
