A pair of Chinese porcelain cups dating to the Republic period (1912–1949), decorated with two dragons pursuing a flaming pearl amongst clouds on a vibrant yellow ground.
Each cup is finely painted in coloured enamels with opposing dragons and traditional cloud motifs. The bases bear iron-red apocryphal Qianlong four-character marks, a feature commonly found on Republic period porcelains inspired by earlier Qing imperial wares.
Height: 5.9 cm each.
Condition:
Both cups have several small rim chips and glaze losses around the mouth rim, together with age-related wear. No repairs have been observed. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
