モササウルスの美しい歯（モロッコ産）で、根がよく保存されています。自然多孔性もまだはっきりと見て取れます。歯はとりわけ大きく、印象的な標本です。北西サハラ地域で発見されました。
この白亜紀の海洋爬虫類は当時の最大級の捕食者のひとつでした。モササウルスは最後期のモササウルス類のひとつで、また最も大きい種のひとつでもありました。大半のモササウルス同様、四肢は短く機能的なヒレへと進化しており、前肢ヒレが後肢ヒレよりも大きくなっています。 Known largest species, Mosasaurus hoffmannii, could reach lengths of 17–18 meters (56 feet), slightly longer than close relatives such as Tylosaurus and Hainosaurus.
モササウルスはまた、最も頑健なモササウルス類のひとつでもあり、大型個体は体重を25〜30トンと推定されます。体は長く、厚く、樽のように丸みを帯び、巨大な頭蓋骨と頭蓋と tightly connected to the cranium. The eyes were relatively large but likely provided limited binocular vision, and the olfactory bulbs were not well developed, suggesting it lived primarily near the water’s surface.
