仏足の蓮華形から立ち上がるこの堂々たる銅製花瓶は、古代中国の儀礼銅器の荘厳さを象徴しています。球形の胴は全体が密度の濃い手彫りの貯形面（taotie、神話上の仮面）デザインで覆われ、繰り返文様（meander、leiwen）地に据えられたモチーフは、商・周代の儀礼銅器に端を発し、邪気を祓い家を守ると信じられてきました。
