Medieval, Crusaders Era Bronze 「十字軍騎士の十字架」 — 螺旋模様の装飾と聖アンドレの十字があしらわれた十字ペンダント (No reserve price)

A superb and highly decorative Crusader-period devotional cross, uniting medieval craftsmanship, Christian symbolism, and centuries of history in a wearable relic that represents both the faith of its original owner and the enduring legacy of the Crusader era. An exceptional Medieval / Crusader-era bronze cross pendant, distinguished by its striking architectural form and deeply sculpted spiral decoration. This authentic devotional object embodies the artistic language of the medieval Christian East, where geometric ornament and sacred symbolism were united to create personal expressions of faith, courage, and divine protection. The cross is formed with ribbed, spiral-fluted arms that converge upon a raised central square engraved with a finely executed Saint Andrew's Cross (saltire). This X-shaped symbol, one of the oldest emblems of Christianity, commemorates Saint Andrew the Apostle, who according to tradition accepted martyrdom upon a diagonal cross out of humility, believing himself unworthy to die in the same manner as Christ. The rhythmic spiral mouldings surrounding the central motif lend the pendant remarkable visual depth while recalling the refined bronze craftsmanship of the 12th–13th century Crusader and Byzantine world. Such geometric ornament was not merely decorative; it symbolized continuity, eternity, and the unwavering path of Christian faith. Designed as a wearable devotional object, the pendant would have served as a constant reminder of spiritual protection and personal devotion. Similar crosses were worn by pilgrims, knights, and faithful Christians travelling through the Holy Land and the Eastern Mediterranean during the age of the Crusades. The reverse remains plain, preserving the authentic character of the original casting, while the beautiful green archaeological patina testifies to centuries of burial and natural aging. The piece has been professionally mounted as a wearable pendant, allowing it to continue its historical journey while fully respecting the integrity of the original artifact. Condition: Excellent archaeological condition with an attractive natural green patina and crisp decorative relief. The spiral ornament and central Saint Andrew's Cross remain exceptionally well preserved. Professionally prepared as a wearable pendant.
