authentic hand-painted Dutch liberation commemorative panel, created shortly after the liberation of the Netherlands on 5 May 1945.

実物の手描きオランダ解放記念パネルで、1945年5月5日のオランダ解放直後に制作されました。

Executed on a wooden panel (approx. 14 × 14 cm), it depicts a smiling British "Tommy" alongside the crossed flags of the United Kingdom and the United States. The handwritten inscription "Thank You Boys – 5 May 1945" commemorates the official surrender of German forces in the Netherlands and the end of the Second World War.

木製パネル（約14×14cm）に実作され、笑顔を浮かべる英国の“トミー”と、英国と米国の国旗が交差するデザインを描いています。手書きの銘文「Thank You Boys – 5 May 1945」は、オランダにおけるドイツ軍の正式降伏と第二次世界大戦の終結を記念しています。

The phrase "Thank You Boys" became an iconic expression of gratitude used by the Dutch population to honour the Allied liberators. During the final days of the war and the food relief missions of Operation Manna, these words famously appeared on fields, rooftops and roads, painted in giant letters so they could be read by Allied aircrews from above.

「Thank You Boys」は、連合軍の解放者を称えるためにオランダ人が用いた象徴的な感謝の表現となりました。戦争の最終日と Operation Manna（飢餓救援作戦） の食料救援任務の間、畑や屋根、道路に巨大な字で描かれ、上空の連合軍機に読まれるように有名になりました。

Small hand-painted souvenirs such as this were produced as pieces of folk art and served as personal mementoes celebrating the return of freedom. Because they were individually made rather than commercially manufactured, surviving examples are relatively uncommon.

このような小さな手描きの souvenir は民芸品として作られ、自由の帰還を祝う個人的な記念品としての役割を果たしました。個別に作られており商業的に大量生産されたものではないため、現存例は比較的珍しいです。

The panel remains in excellent original condition, displaying an attractive natural patina consistent with its age.
