This elegant Japanese Izu ware chawan embodies the quiet beauty and tactile warmth admired in traditional tea ceramics. The bowl features a gently flared form with naturally irregular contours, creating a soft and organic silhouette that feels balanced yet spontaneous in the hand. Its surface is covered in a rich amber-brown glaze layered with deep iron tones and subtle kiln effects. The concentric wheel-thrown lines remain visible beneath the glaze, giving the piece a strong sense of movement and craftsmanship. The slightly undulating rim and asymmetrical profile reflect the wabi-sabi aesthetic, where imperfection and natural variation are celebrated as part of the ceramic’s character. The interior reveals a luminous golden-brown glaze with fine speckling and flowing circular throwing marks that draw the eye toward the center of the bowl. Under changing light, the glaze shifts between warm honey, chestnut, and earthy bronze tones, producing a calm yet expressive atmosphere. The bowl is accompanied by its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box).
