Well-carved ancestoral figure used in the Ewe-community of Togo. These statues were used in the communication with the ancestos in times of need. To facilitate this communication these figures are poured over with special liquids.. Traces of this are still visible on this particular statue. Special robot-like design; typical for the Ewe carvers. This figure was collected in Togo in the late 1990,s and comes from a private Dutch collection.
