鶴の形をした庭の装飾品 - Bronze - Japan - Taishō period (1912-1926)

A set of three matching garden ornaments in the form of elegant cranes 鶴 (tsuru), finely cast in bronze with delicate feather detailing and an attractive aged patina. Traditionally placed near a pond or water feature, figures such as these enhance the atmosphere of a Japanese garden and harmonise beautifully with stone lanterns 灯籠 (tôrô) and other garden ornaments. At the same time, they also make striking sculptural objects when displayed indoors or on their own. Two cranes stand upright in alert poses, one with its head raised skyward and its beak partially open as if calling, the other with its head turned back and upward, its beak closed. The third crane bends gracefully forward, appearing to have just caught a fish. In Japanese symbolism, the crane 鶴 (tsuru) is regarded as an auspicious and sacred bird associated with longevity and good fortune, and is traditionally said to live for a thousand years. Approximate dimensions: Crane (upright, beak closed): Height 61.5 cm, Width 20 cm, Depth 19.5 cm Crane (upright, beak open: Height 63 cm, Width 23 cm, Depth 20 cm Crane (bent forward): Height 32.5 cm, Width 40.5 cm, Depth 17 cm Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926) The figures are in very good original condition, with an appealing patina and minimal traces of use consistent with age. The feet are detachable for transport. Please refer to the photographs for a clear condition reference. When shipped, a certificate of authenticity will be included.
