宝石のような色調の漆塗り茶筒に、七難の神々を金蒔絵で華麗に描く。
kyushitsu 技法を用いた漆塗りで層を重ねる厳密な作業—スパチュラと筆による手法—を経て作られた夏目風の茶筒は、黒地の上に温かく透ける赤を下地として、筒体の周囲に繊細な金蒔絵で七難の神々（恵比寿、大黒天、毗沙門天、弁財天、福禄寿、寿老人、布袋尊）を描出している。光沢のある深い色調と細かな線描は、中村が伝統的な漆技法への基盤と長年の茶道修行を両立させたことを物語っている。
【作家プロフィール】
中村聖都（1932年生）は、石川県出身の漆芸作家。父から十四歳の時に九紫漆技法を学び始め、後に意宇の僧侶・中尾宋和から茶道の指導を受け、1980年代を通じて全国漆芸展で数多くの受賞作を発表した。1987年には茶名「宗玉」を授かり、1992年には茶道准教授として認定された。彼の作品は、主に夏目・茶筒・香木入れなど茶室の道具に焦点を当て、shin-nuri（新塗）や加賀蒔絵といった伝統的技法を、自然を思わせる洗練された感性と結びつけている。
