An elegant hand-carved Japanese Noh mask "Shakumi" (曲見), signed by the Noh mask artisan Yōhō (陽宝). The Shakumi mask portrays a graceful, mature woman with an expression of quiet dignity and restrained emotion. Its refined facial proportions, gently lowered eyes, softly smiling lips, and subtle contours create the mysterious, ever-changing expression for which Noh masks are celebrated. Depending on the angle of light and the actor's movement, the face appears alternately serene, contemplative, joyful, or melancholic. Expertly carved from wood and finished with traditional pigments, the reverse retains the artisan's carved signature 「陽宝」 together with the mask identification 「曲見」. The original purple mounting cord remains attached. Shakumi masks are traditionally used for portraying elegant women of noble character in classical Noh theatre.
