2013 Chateau L'Evangile - Pomerol - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

Château l'Évangile is one of the oldest estates in Pomerol, with a history dating back to 1741. Since 1990 it has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, owners of the first-growth Château Lafite-Rothschild, which has earned the wine the nickname "Little Lafite." The estate borders Château Pétrus directly and is separated from Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion by nothing more than a secondary road — a strategic position on the rare gravel ridge of the southeastern Pomerol plateau. 2013 was a notoriously difficult year in Bordeaux, with a wet spring and uneven flowering, but l'Évangile managed to produce a refined, layered wine through extended maceration and lower fermentation temperatures. The 2013 scored 91/100 points, with tasting notes describing delicate plum, sandalwood, lavender, and violet, medium body, firm tannins, and a fresh finish. A subtle and refined expression of l'Évangile, true to the house style despite the challenging vintage.
