緑のガラス玉をあしらった、古代ローマのイヤリングと貴美な一対です。形は円形から円盤状までさまざまで、筋模様や多様な質感を持ちます。玉は垂直方向に貫通しており、現代の金メッキピンに通され、現代用のフックが付いています。各玉は個々に異なる形と色合いを示し、そのアンティークで手作りらしい特性を反映しています。経年に伴う表面のざらつきも見られます。
このようなビーズとイヤリングは、ローマ帝国全体でガラス装飾品の人気を示しています。古代ローマでのガラスの大量生産は、ガラス宝飾品の発展を促しました。ガラスの経年変化は、ローマのガラス宝飾品に独自の風合いを与えます。例えば、ガラスに組み込まれた不純物が何千年にもわたって周囲の環境と反応することで、美しい光沢や斑点が生じ、元は透明だったかもしれないガラスが変化します。
