This shade of color is also called "BLIZZARD STONE" because of the resemblance of white snow flakes in a dark stormy night. Other names are: * Blackstone is English for 'black stone' * Gabbro is named after the village of Gabbro in Tuscany, Italy. * Mystic merlinite * Gray-blue spotted gabbro is also called indigo gabbro or mystic merlinite (mystical merlinite). Gabbro is the name of a group of deep rocks, formed deep in the earth. In the interior of the earth it is red-hot and the rocks are liquid. This 'magma' rises and cools against the bottom of the earth's crust.
